The Arkena Coffee Market is Ethiopia’s Largest Direct Tarde Digital Marketplace for Smallholder Coffee Farmers. We are on a quest to correct the imbalances of the coffee industry by connecting smallholder coffee farmers directly to foreign buyers and building the tools to make these trades easy and feasible. Description: The Arkena Coffee Market has partnered with Technoserve to assist them in their REgrow Yirga Project. Arkena Coffee Market Ethiopia is looking for a motivated, dedicated individual that is interested in the coffee sector with a desire to move up in the industry. This person will assist the Coffee Quality Manager in assessing and ensuring the quality of all coffees that enter our lab. In addition, this person will assist our quality department in organizing laboratory inventory, streamlining laboratory processes, preparing/sending samples to clients, and maintaining lab cleanliness.

Position Type: Contractual (with three (3) months probationary period.

Duration: Guaranteed funding through March 2025 with possibility of extension.

Start Date: No later than August 31, 2023.

Location: Position is based in Dilla, Gedio, SNNPR at the Tecnoserve office. There will be some field trips to partner wetmills.

Compensation: Up to 15,000.00 gross monthly

pay depending upon experience

Education: No requirements but and QCI, SCA or other applicable trainings/certifications will be considered.

Experience: Education: None required but having coffee sector experience or a passion for coffee will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Will represent Arkena Coffee Market in all work-related activities and must uphold company values when working.

Will help roast samples when required.

Will help prepare cupping sessions when required.

Will help complete sensorial and raw coffee analyses.

Will help maintain laboratory equipment and facilities.

Will help maintain inventory and enter sample/cupping information into databases.

Will help prepare various samples for partners.

Will assist with other office related work and projects tasks as asked by management.

Job Requirements

Requirements

Fluent in Amharic and some English is preferred and must show strong communication skills.

Must be comfortable working in Dilla and display a strong interest to work in the coffee sector.

Must display strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Must display flexibility an ability to adapt to changing work conditions.

Ability to take on new and unexpected tasks that may not be defined within this posting.

Good inter-personal as well as intra-personal skills.

Assertive and energetic.

Emanate role model behavior and exhibit team-based work culture.

A familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is desired.
