Aridland Development Programme (ADP) is a Community based Christian Organization founded in 2004 and acquired the status of an NGO in April 2008.
ADP is registered to cover the whole of Uganda, but due to the current level of funding, it has currently consolidated interventions in the districts of Karamoja region in its community development programmes.
Aridland Development programme with support funding from USAID is currently implementing USAID flagship of resilience project “Integrated Community Agriculture and Nutrition Activities (ICAN) in Kaabong in the sub counties of Loyoro, Sidok and Lolelia with the sole purpose of enhancing the resilience of the vulnerable households, stabilizing their access to and consumption of a diverse and nutritious diet, and increasing social capital by reinforcing relationships between local governance systems and the communities they serve.
Aridland Development Programme (ADP) now seeks to hire and engage a professional photographer on a short term basis for a period of six (6) months to support implementation of USAID ICAN activities in Kaabong.
Duties and Responsibilities
Taking photos and video clips at field level and different ICAN events: This include taking quality photos as requested. The requested should describe the kind of pictures needed. If possible the requester must give the example of pictures from the internet. The pictures include group meetings, dialogues, field activities, interventions in action.
Editing photos on request, creating album
Captioning photos
Producing and editing short video stories on request
Administering consent forms with support from SBCC leads
Mentoring/ training staff in photography
Covering for photographers in other regions when necessary
Minimum Requirements/Skills
Professional certificate in photography and
minimum of 1-year experience in taking photos for reputable organizations.
Photography/ able to take action pictures
Ability to use photo editing software such as Photo-shop and other related soft wares
Understanding the concept of consent, ethics and respecting dignity of subjects
Basic writing skills and ability to give captivating captions
Creativity, an eye for detail
Basic understanding of NGOs/USAID work
A flair for stories
Flexibility and ability to always be on call
Skills in capacity building
Ability to speak fluently in Ngakarimojong is a must
