The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an African-led and Africa based international research institute committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant multidisciplinary research.
Our research addresses important development issues and challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa in areas such as education, population, health, aging, urbanization and wellbeing.
Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action, engage with policy makers in the region to disseminate our research findings, influence policy decisions, and improve the quality of life in Africa.
The APHRC invites applications for Transcribers in its Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions project in Kenya. The project aims to review the implementation of Kenya’s Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy 2015.
Duties and responsibilities
Transcription and translation of qualitative interviews conducted in English or Kiswahili to Kiswahili or English.
Attend planning, review and debrief meetings with project staff.
Write and share a report of the transcribing process.
Clean and proofread set of transcribed interviews.
Prepare a database entailing biographical information of the interviewees.
Minimum qualifications required
Possess a Bachelor’s degree.
Proficient in English and Swahili, (oral and written).
Previous experience
in transcribing qualitative interviews.
Typing speed of 60WPM and above.
Ability to work under tight deadlines without supervision.
Self-discipline and ability to submit self-edited, high-quality work.
Experience in conducting and coding qualitative data is an added.
