About the role

Angama is seeking a passionate leader to fill the new position of Head of Operations, an exciting opportunity to inspire the forefront of warm and generous hospitality from one of Africa’s leading safari hospitality brands.

The role holder’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day operations across all Angama properties, including Angama Mara, Angama Safari Camp, and Angama Amboseli as well as future properties that are currently in development.

The Angama team is looking for a highly motivated individual who is aligned with the Angama brand values and thrives with the responsibility of caring for guests 24/7/365. This role would be ideal for someone who understands, anticipates, and is able to respond to the highly personalised needs of discerning travellers and guests, operating beyond the expectations of Angama’s brand promise. This individual can keep their sense of humour even in a crisis.

An ideal candidate presents a keen eye for detail, doesn’t miss a trick, is naturally people and purpose-driven, and motivated to lead an impactful business. They would be well-versed in bringing out the best in people and can lead complex teams across multiple locations. This role reports directly into the Chief Executive Officer and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with significant travel across the various properties.

Key Responsibilities:

The stewardship of the Angama guest experience in line with the Angama Way.

Designing and delivering all

aspects of daily lodge operations, ensuring consistency and a golden thread of delight across all operations and properties.

Proactively identifying service pain points and monitoring guest feedback to close the loop for continuous improvement and enhancements.

Strengthening supply chain processes and practices.

Creating a high-performance culture and cohesive teams across all departments and locations.

Actively driving and monitoring the ongoing training of all team members.

Does this sound like you?

A seasoned hospitality expert, hotelier and/or luxury resort operator with at least 10 years’ post-degree experience, including a successful tenure at the helm of a high-end lodge or resort.

An individual well-travelled across East Africa, respectful of others, and yet courageous in their undertakings.

Deep understanding of the high-end hospitality industry and familiarity with global best operating practices & standards, including international exposure.

A resourceful and proven leader with strong interpersonal skills and the innate ability to inspire and develop talent.

Demonstrated experience leading complex teams across multiple locations or multiple properties.

An individual who thrives on the adversities faced by operating in remote areas and understands the responsibility to provide local employment.

Ability to naturally assimilate into the Angama brand and live Angama’s values of Ubuntu, Respect, Honesty, Courage, and Joy.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with native fluency in both English and Kiswahili.
