Job Title:
Lecturer / Tutorial Fellow – Critical Care Nursing
Reporting To:
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs

Job Description
The holder of the job will lead (participate in) the curriculum development and delivery in critical care nursing.
Further, the holder will develop, fundraise and implement research and extension activities in the area.
Main Duties and Key Responsibilities
Coordinate (participate in) the development of curricula in Critical Care nursing
Lead (participate in) accreditation and implementation of courses as per CUE guidelines.
Train and supervise students.
Coordinate practicum.
Develop and carry out research activities.
Form and manage partnerships for advancing Critical Care nursing
Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
Mobilize resources to ensure sustainability of courses in critical care nursing
Academic Requirements
An earned PhD (ongoing PhD candidates for Tutorial Fellow) in a critical care nursing or related field from a recognized university
At least three (3) years teaching experience in a
recognized university or similar research/industry experience.
Publications – at least Twenty four (24) publication points for lecturers.
Registered with relevant professional body
Work Experience
At least three (3) years teaching experience in a recognized university or similar research/industry experience.
Curriculum development and delivery
Knowledge of CUE and regulator requirements
Knowledge and experience in academic or industry settings
Managing clients in area of expertise
At least two years’ work experience in a busy ICU clinical setting
Experience in clinical instruction of nursing students
Qualities and Competencies
Knowledge, skills and attitude of an ethical critical care nurse
Excellent academic writing and language skills
Professional student-centric approach to learning
Commitment to quality, teaching, assessment and research.
ODEL methodologies of curriculum delivery
Ability to work independently
Team player
Leadership capabilities
A strategic and critical thinker with ability to generate and grow new ideas
Computer proficiency
