Amref Health Africa has been active in Ethiopia since the 1960’s and became fully operational and registered as an international NGO in 2002.

Human Resoruces for Health Project

Amref Health Africa, aligning with the Government of Ethiopia’s priority and the community’s needs, works to produce competent mid-level health workforce through its support of midwifery training and the national Health Extension Program (HEP).

Through its GliskoSmithKeline (GSK) supported Human Resources for Health (HRH) project, it provides technical and financial resources for the development of training material, purchasing health learning tools, and equipping skill training laboratories in health science institutions.

Moreover, as leadership is essential in the success of HRH management, Amref Health Africa supports the leadership, management and governance training of health man­agers and practitioners. Training and mentorship support of health workers are also integrated in our RMNCAYH and WASH programming.

As part of its efforts to document its best experiences and significant achievements and lessons learnt, Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia is seeking a media and communication consultant to produce a documentary film that captures outcomes of the project in Afar, Gambella and Benishangul Gumuz regions.

The documentary will focus on featuring the impacts of the project in supporting production of midlevel health care providers (HEWs and Midwives ) incollaboration with FMoH and regional health science colleges.

It will show status of health services provision for mothers and children at community level by health extension workers and midwives, whose training was supported by Amref Health Africa.

Objectives of the Consultancy

The main purpose of this consultancy is to video document the impacts of the Human Resources for Health project support in Semera, Assosa and Gambella towns and some six nearby districts where trained health workers serve the community at health posts and health centers, and produce 10-12 minutes documentary film.

The documentary will, as part of the overall documentation, feature story of graduates - trained health workers (midwives, Health extension workers, and other health workers) serving their communities at different level.

Job Requirements

Proven advanced skill in film making, production of audio-vidoe materials, documentary production in particular.

Professional experience in interviewing people for video materials

Knowledge of Ethiopian health extension program, and health services provided by health workforce in the country.

Demonstrable professional writing and narrative skill

Ability to deliver on time (one Month after contract agreement is signed)
