Amref Finance Analyst Jobs in Kenya
Amref Health Africa Enterprises Limited, is seeking to recruit a Finance Analyst, to take full accountability of the strategical and operational finances of AEL/Leap, a >$1m/annum social enterprise fully owned by Amref Health Africa. This entails setting up and running day to day financial operations of AEL/Leap as well as commercial modelling to support decision making by the Leap leadership.
Amref social enterprise was established in January 2017 and currently based in Nairobi, Kenya but serving the global organization in supporting enterprise development and management.
It is geared towards provision of innovative solutions in content development, digital training, management of data, quality medical services, health financing, in the delivery of lasting health change in Africa.
Our mission is to uplift communities in Africa through sustainable provision of
innovative products and solutions for Human Resource for Health, Service Delivery, Big Data
and Healthcare Financing.
Amref Enterprises focuses on delivering innovative solutions broadly defined into 4 main sub sets as follows
Training and skills development through the innovative mobile learning platform – Leap
Delivery of clinical and diagnostic services –Medical Centre
Health and social data generation, Information Research and Advocacy – Leap/M-JALi.
Resource Generation; i.e. content generation, customer support service through the leap helpdesk, conducting survey, financial resource
Health financing solutions- i-PUSH.
Responsibilities
Develop business cases
Lead the creation of business cases to inform new capital investments for Leap
Primary gate-keeper for Leap investments
Capital planning / working capital management
Work with Group CFO to manage unrestricted profit earned by the Leap social enterprise
Ensure Leap has sufficient capital to support future capital investments and day to day operations
Charity status and tax implications
Support key decision making that may influence charity status or have tax implications
Engage external counsel to determine tax implications for key strategic decisions
Inter-country revenue and expense management
Identify potential hurdles for cross-country expansion – specifically related to revenue and expense recognition from other countries
Engage external counsel to determine tax implications for key strategic decisions
Pricing Strategy
Financial modelling to support key pricing decisions for current and new product offerings
Price elasticity modelling to drive key decision making
Financial analysis on new business contracts
Financial modelling for individual contracts and deals to protect against margin erosion
Support strategic deal shaping by modelling impacts of discounting to drive pull-through business
Financial Controls
In coordination with Amref internal audit, implement and adjust financial controls to mitigate against financial and compliance
risk
General Ledger
Reporting
Set-up new general ledger reporting – including P&L reporting, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
Support day to day and monthly operations of financial reporting
Sales reporting and financial forecasting
Set-up and manage sales reporting and long term financial forecasting, tracking sales actuals against forecast and budget
Annual financial reporting
Lead the creation of annual financial reporting in conjunction with Leap/AEL GM
Project financial management
Set-up systems and structure to manage revenue, expense and margin for each deal and contract
Implement controls to prevent project overspend
Accounting standards
Work with Group CFO and Internal Audit to ensure all financial reporting is in-line with Kenyan Account standards
Credit management
Implement credit management, including basic credit checks and debt collection processes appropriate for a B2B business
Financial processing
Provide oversight of daily financial operations, including accounts receivable, payable and invoicing as well as staff
payroll (processing and disbursement)
Qualifications
Masters in Financial Management
Degree in Commerce – Finance or Accounting option
CPA (K) or its equivalent.
At least 4-6 years’ experience as a Finance and/or Commercial Manager in industry OR
Strong finance and accounting skills (including set-up of general ledger reporting, cash flow management and capital planning)
Strong commercial modelling skills (including financial forecasting, business case
development and price modelling)
Good analytical skills (including proficiency in Excel – Pivot Table, Scenario Modelling, Sensitivity Analysis)
Proficient in ICT skills and with Accounting packages
Negotiation skills
Presentation skills
Good interpersonal skills
High level of integrity and honesty
Team player
Entrepreneurship mindset
Flexible
Ability to work independently and take full accountability
Ability to work long hours.
