Position Title Program Coordinator, Community Home Based Care
Program

Position Summary: Under the direction of the AIHA/Tanzania Country Director, the
Program Coordinator (P.C.) is responsible for supporting AIHA’s implementation of a
Community Based Home Based Care Twinning Program in Tanzania. Based out of Dar es
Salaam, the P.C. will be overseeing implementation of its activities with its Tanzanian partner,
the National AIDS Control Program (NACP) -Community Services Unit (CSU). The P.C. will also
work in collaboration with other PEPFAR-funded partners, other sections of the the Ministry
of Health, Community Development, Gender and Children (MOHCDGEC) and other national
and international CHBC stakeholders.
Essential Roles And Responsibilities:Program/Partnership Management
• Coordinate and oversee implementation of CHBC partners and program to ensure
timely implementation of program activities.
• Work with AIHA/HQ staff, AIHA/TZ staff, Tanzanian partners, other identified
partners to develop and maintain program workplans, making changes and updates
as appropriate.
• Maintain a close collaborative working relationship with other PEPFAR implementing
partners and stakeholders including MOH, private sector, associations, regulatory
and training partners.
• Manage CHBC budget; assist in developing and monitoring budgets and forecasting
costs.
• Assist partners with the development, editing, finalization, and packaging of program
curriculum, reports and materials
• Schedule, coordinate, and participate in program trainings, workshops and meetings
Technical Support
• Possess solid knowledge and skills on provision of holistic CHBC for people living with
HIV/AIDS in Tanzania
• Possess experience working in programs that support CHBC caregivers and clients
• Experience in and mobilizing communities around HIV/AIDS prevention, care,
treatment, and support
• Solid understanding of topics from HIV/AIDS, including prevention and care and
treatment; community-based communication skills; community nursing care; nutrition;
positive living; family planning; ; and ART
• Provide CHBC technical assistance through trainings, mentoring and support to
Tanzanian partners
• Provide
technical assistance to NACP on the operationalization of national CHBC
policies and guidelines
Monitoring and Evaluation
• Oversee program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities to ensure data is properly
captured and reported
• Provide support and assistance to CHBC partners to develop and submit timely:
o AIHA and partnership annual workplans, as well as quarterly reports
o USG funder reporting requirements
o Coordinate and participate in SIMS and other USG requirements as needed
• Document CHBC outcomes, successes, special activities
• Assist with tracking annual PEPFAR 3.0 targets down to the site level as required
• Coordinate with AIHA/Tanzania staff and CHBC partners to develop nursing
publications and research opportunities
Other
• Complete other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:• Undergraduate Degree in Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work or
other related fields, with a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work
experience
• Experience in CHBC program management and support procedures
• Experience with U.S. Government donor compliance and reporting
• Ability to develop and maintain close relationships with various
stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively with diverse coworkers and project participants
• Self-starter and strong multi-tasking and problem solving skills
• Must be very dependable and detail oriented
• Effective and diplomatic communicator at all levels
• Ability to train and mentor health workers of different cadres
• Personal and professional maturity and judgment
• Financial management experience
• Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
• English and Swahili fluency is essential
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Outlook, Access) and the Internet
• Must be willing to travel in-country and provide on-side leadership
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment,
set priorities, work independently and in a team environment
