Job SummaryUnder the supervision of Project Manager, the Project Assistant will provide direct oversight to the implementation and quality delivery of ICCM at the health facilities and communities in close collaboration with the district focal person.
Duties and responsibilities:Ensure availability of standardized ICCM protocols, policies, guidelines and tools, as prescribed by the Ministry of Health, WHO and Global Fund at the health facility & Village Heath Teams (VHTs).
Organize orientations and refresher trainings for the Health Unit Management Committees and VHTs on proper management of severe malaria cases, Basic Health Promotion, ICCM, timely referrals, follow ups, records management and timely reporting to health facilities for consolidation and further dissemination to the DHIS2 by district HMIS officer.
Strengthen linkages between community and facility based management of malaria and other killer diseases especially among under 5s, PLWs and elderly.
Improve knowledge and positive mind change of households and communities on correct treatment and prevention of malaria and other killer diseases through SBCC, community dialogues and feedback sessions, home visits by VHTs and sensitization of social leaders (teachers, clergies, elders, traditional leaders, local councils etc)
Participate in district and community level coordination meetings aimed at advocacy for ICCM and leverage of resources to maximize project outputs.
Liaise with the district VHT coordinator to ensure active engagement of VHTs in the catchment area
Build the capacity of VHT coordinators to ably oversee, support, monitor and compile reports from the designated VHTs to the health facilities on a monthly basis.
Prepare project progress reports, success stories and lessons learned during project implementation.
Develop annual/quarterly/monthly work/activity plans, follow up the implementation of plans and ensure timely review/adjust them to achieve committed target.
Providing full time supervision at the health facility and VHTs to ensure smooth project implementation and integration of ICCM with other programs using 2P-ICLEM model.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
Minimum qualifications
Education
Diploma in clinical medicine- preferable. Diploma in nursing, comprehensive nursing or public health with adequate and relevant work experience is acceptable. Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health is an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a primary health care program.
Experience in implementing/ managing community-based programs especially ICCM in humanitarian context is an advantage.
Experience in budget management
Experience in behavioral change programming.
Core Competencies
Excellent report-writing skills is required including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Team management experience with similar programs.
Ability to work under tight deadlines, juggling multiple competing tasks and prioritizing demands
Ability to work in a multi-cultural and diverse team.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, English fluency (spoken and written).
