AIDS Healthcare Foundation Pharmacy Technician Jobs in Uganda

Job Summary:

This position is based at Tororo Hospital. The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical services to all our clients. The incumbent shall ensure a timely, accurate, and efficient dispensing process, provide relevant patient advice, and supervise other pharmacy staff as guided by the program pharmacist.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive and verify all pharmaceutical and healthcare supplies.

Record all incoming and outgoing inventory transactions.

Conduct periodic physical inventory counts to update inventory records and generate inventory utilization reports.

Prepare and submit bi-monthly ART commodity orders and reports as per the designated warehouse delivery schedule.

Forecast and quantify pharmaceutical supplies to support the management of opportunistic infections and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Prepare and dispense prescribed ART and TB commodities.

Provide appropriate patient counselling to ensure treatment adherence and continuity of care.

Support the scale-up of the Community Retail Pharmacy Drug Distribution Point program.

Supervise and mentor other healthcare professionals engaged in dispensing medicines.

Pharmacovigilance and ADR reporting

Monitor patients to identify and report any adverse drug reactions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum of

Diploma in Pharmacy or the equivalent obtained from a reputable training institution.

Must be registered with the Allied Health Professional Council with a valid annual practicing license.

At least two years of work experience in the HIV/AIDS commodity supply chain in Uganda.

Knowledge of the National TB and HIV commodity supply chain system is an added advantage.

Demonstrable skills in the use of electronic inventory management systems.
