As part of the Aga Khan Development Network, AKU is a private, autonomous university that promotes human welfare through research, teaching and community service initiatives. AKU is currently preparing the necessary documentation and other measures required to start the construction of the University Centre in Nairobi. Applications are invited for the following positions.


Aga Khan University Structural Engineer-REF NO.03/005 Jobs in Nairobi

Reporting to the Project Director, the structural engineer will prepare and review structural engineering designs.

Key responsibilities

  • Review contractor quotations to ensure fair and reasonable pricing for approval.
  • Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor project information.
  • Identify and maintain an effective receiving and storage system for materials and plant.
  • Carry out inspections of site installation works
  • Review Field Inspection reports from consultants.
  • Assist with contractor evaluations.
  • Review as built drawings.

    Requirements

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • The incumbent should have a minimum of Five (5) years' working experience on main contractor operated sites.
  • S/he should be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit structures and robot analysis and be familiar with the programming and scheduling of building projects.

    Aga Khan University Electoral Engineer-REF NO.03/006 Jobs in Nairobi

    Reporting to the Project Director, the electrical engineer will prepare contract drawings and documentation for in house projects.

    Key responsibilities

  • Review and check design development drawings specifications.
  • Prepare purchase of all imported electrical and biomedical equipment.
  • Supervise and check site works related to electricals.
  • Check contractors drawings and report and discrepancy.
  • Review and check as built drawings upon completion of the project.
  • Review operation and maintenance manual submitted by the contractor.
  • Assist with contractor evaluations.

    Requirements

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • The incumbent should have strong technical understanding of electrical, electronics' and biomedical system and equipment generally found in a hospital environment.
  • S/he should be should be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit Electrical and have a minimum of five (5) years working experience.

    Aga Khan University Mechanical Engineer-REF 03/007 Jobs in Nairobi

    Reporting to the Project Director, the structural engineer will prepare mechanical designs (HVAC Plant and P & D) drawings for in house projects.

    Key responsibilities

  • Supervise all mechanical site installation.
  • Review construction drawings from design to constructability point.
  • Coordinate purchase for all medical equipment such as chillers, boilers etc.
  • Review MEP shop
    drawing prepared by the contractor and report any discrepancy.
  • Review operation and maintenance of manuals submitted by the contractor.
  • Assist with contractor evaluations.
  • Review as built drawings.

    Requirements

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • The incumbent should have strong technical understanding of HVAC, plumbing system, boiler/steam generators, medical gas systems, building management systems, mechanical construction materials, installations method electronics' and biomedical system and equipment generally found in a hospital environment.
  • S/he should be should be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit Electrical and have a minimum of five (5) years working experience.

    Aga Khan University Health and Safety Manager-REF NO. 03/008 Jobs in Nairobi

    Reporting to the Project Director, the Health and Safety manager is to be involved in the Health and Safety Environment review and operation for other Aga Khan University projects as deemed necessary by the Project Director.

    Key responsibilities

  • Review and assess all designs, drawings and specifications prepared by the AKU's architects and consulting engineers.
  • Act as a competent person on behalf of AKU for health and safety matters.
  • Deliver a robust programme for proactive on-site inspections to check, challenge, support and guide workers in delivery of safe working practices
  • Advise project managers on legal requirements and changes in legislation.
  • Contact external professional advisors, NEMA partner organizations, contractors and statutory health and safety agents such as OSHA.
  • Identify and report potential risks associated with Environmental Health and Safety and report to the Project Manager.
    Requirements

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or Occupational Health and must be fully qualified Health Safety and Environmental Manager with at least 10yrs relevant experience in construction and particular with experience in the Healthcare industry.
  • The incumbent should be fully conversant with construction Health and Safety and Environmental requirements for the healthcare industry.
  • S /he should be familiar with the Occupational Safety and Health Act as well as the operations of the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Service.
