About the Project: AKF Education Improvement Program (EIP). AKF partners with a global network of local government schools within education systems to co-develop and test affordable and scalable evidence-based models about how best to create quality learning environments and improve holistic learning outcomes for the most marginalized children.
The overarching goal of the AKF-EIP is to equip children and young people with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to interact effectively with the world and become contributing members of society.
AKF is looking for an enthusiastic, creative individua to coordinate the teacher continuous professional development (CPD) interventions across the education portfolio in Tanzania
Provide technical leadership in supporting the national agenda to Teachers Continuous Professional Development (TCPD)including providing technical support to the LGA in Lindi Urban, Mtama, Ruangwa and any other district that AKF-EIP will reach, coordinating government dialogue, and providing technical leadership on the research and learning agenda around TCPD.
Responsibilities
Lead and ensure that the TCPD workplan implementation in the operational areas are in line with the government and education projects’ implementation plan.
Ensure the TCPD workplan is reviewed regularly to capture the local context and priorities of relevant various stakeholders especially various Local Government Authorities.
Work closely with the Project Manager, Gender Coordinator, Project officers, and M&E officer to ensure that centrally managed interventions of TCPD are properly implemented across the locations with close coordination of relevant LGAs.
Organize, coordinate, and conduct required field visits for project implementation
Provide technical support to all relevant actors involved in implementation of TCPD and making sure that all government resources are available
Actively participate in different technical and working group mechanisms within the education sector in Tanzania to contribute to and ensure compliance with the Tanzania Education priorities, policies, and procedures.
Keep
abreast of the latest technical development in the education sector especially in either through own learning, or through technical advisers, and ensure that applicable methodologies and technical breakthroughs are incorporated in program design and delivery.
Ensure that activity plans and budgets are developed/submitted to the Project Manager in time.
Draft activity reports to contribute to the quarterly and annual project reporting deliverables and flag challenges and other key concerns
Support the M&E team in collection of data, lessons learnt, best practices to inform reports for internal and external use.
Support drafting of interest stories, lessons learnt and share with TCPD stake holders and management team.
Maintain good/efficient working relationship with partners including Tanzania Institute of Education, Local Government Authorities, Teachers Resource Centres, schools and other institutions.
Support integration of Child Protection activities for other collaborating Partners including orientation of staff on safeguarding protocols and related policy practices.
Maintain effective networks with all partners local government and participates in LGA forums for promoting TCPD.
Perform other relevant duties as and when assigned by AKF.
The requirements
Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Master’s degree in Education.
Proven (minimum Five-years) experience delivering teacher professional development courses
Familiar Local Governments ways of working.
Experience of working in multi-cultural and diverse teams including experience of working in marginalized communities.
Evidence of understanding of and commitment to child protection and safeguarding as well as other vulnerable populations.
Ability to ride a motorcycle and possession of a valid riding licence will be an added advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, ability to network with a range of development partners and organisations.
Personal commitment to working as reliable, honest, & trustworthy member of a team.
