Introduction

The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKESK) operates 11 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both the national and international curricula. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.
The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, Senior School The Senior School of the Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is an IB World School and offers a holistic programme of education for students in Grades 7-13, combining a rigorous academic focus with a broad range of athletic and enrichment activities for students. The Senior School offers the IB Middle Years Programme of Studies for students in Grades 7-11, blending the syllabus of the Cambridge !GCSE in grades 10 and 11 with that of the Middle Years' Programme of Study. As well, the Senior School offers students entry into the IB Diploma Programme of Studies in Grades 12 and 13.

Responsibilities

S/he should have a greater understanding of the IB MYP programme, a collaborative, passionate, global-minded individual who possesses excellent organizational and time-management skills.

S/he is able to set high standards and expectations, is self-motivated and enthusiastic about the development of an excellent IB programme of studies.

S/he possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to enrich the Senior Leadership Team with energy, creative thinking, and a sense of humour.

A member of the School Senior Leadership Team that lays the strategic direction for the school, within the School Vision/Mission and IB Mission statement.

Provide effective leadership in the development and successful implementation of the IB MYP programme in the school.

Ensure the production of a timetable that meets the learning needs of students and the requirements of the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Oversee the reporting process and work with the ManageBac Coordinator.

Oversee all school staff

performance evaluation & management, continuous Professional Development management, School Policy management, Student management and teacher recruitment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education (BEd.)

5 years of IB Middle Years' Programme and/or IB Diploma outstanding teaching experience as well as previous Middle Years' Programme and/or IB

Diploma leadership experience in an IB World School.

Aga Khan Education Service Spanish Teacher Jobs in Kenya

Responsibilities

The Spanish language acquisition course provides a linguistic and academic challenge for students in order to facilitate the best possible educational experience.

The teacher will ensure the students recognize and use language as a vehicle of thought, reflection, self-expression and learning in other subjects, and as a tool for enhancing literacy.

This will allow the students to understand the nature of language and the process of linguistic integration, cultural and social components.

He/She should also foster curiosity, inquiry and a lifelong interest, enjoyment of language learning and the associated cultural identity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed.) in the study of Spanish or Native speaker who has completed studies in Spanish

3-5 years' experience in a reputable school that offers the IB programme of studies or have extensive IGCSE/A level teaching experience as a Spanish Teacher.

Proven consistency in class work performance

The successful candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty members, students, parents and staff.
