AFRIpads Head of Production Jobs in Uganda

AFRIpads (Uganda) Ltd. is a fast-growing social business in Uganda that manufactures and sells reusable (washable) cloth sanitary pads as an impactful feminine hygiene solution for the millions of women and girls in East Africa and beyond.



The company’s mission is to *empower women and girls through business, innovation, and opportunity.* Headquartered in Kampala, Uganda and with a manufacturing facility in Southwestern Uganda, AFRIpads currently employs over 175 staff.


The company is in its eighth year of operation and has proven itself as the leading supplier of reusable sanitary pads to girls and women in East Africa, with over 2.5 million products manufactured and sold since its inception and multiple local and international awards received for social entrepreneurship.


The company continues to expand rapidly with a 70% growth rate and subsidiaries growing in both Malawi and Kenya.


Responsibilities


  • Oversee entire production process from intake of raw materials to output of finished products
  • Provide clear and timely production planning including giving indications of raw material needs and developing daily work plans for all departments
  • Ensure 100% quality of all products and proactively recognize all risks that could effect future quality
  • Analyse all production processes in both human and machine capacity to optimize efficiencies
  • Build yearly production budget and track expenses over the year in relation to the budget
  • Work with line supervisors to help build their management capacity
  • Create detailed reports including but not limited to tracking movements of inventory, efficiency gains, etc.
  • Support the Research & Development team in testing the production of new products
    to help management determine the viability of taking on these new endeavours
  • Complete inventory management including raw materials, work in progress, finished products and production assets
  • Take part in the Senior Management Team’s development and formulation of long and short-term planning, policies, programs and objectives


    Required Skills & Experiences:


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operational management for a commercial manufacturing company
  • Advanced quantitative analysis skills and advanced knowledge in excel
  • Ability to manage, train and empower a multi-cultural team of operational staff
  • Strong references from past managers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills (English)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative nature
