African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) is a leading, independent Pan-African centre of policy advocacy and dialogue on the African child.
It aims to provide a knowledge-based and advocacy-driven platform for dialogue; contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing children in Africa; identify policy options; strengthen the capacity of governments and CSOs to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes; and promote and strengthen an Africa-wide movement for children.
ACPF seeks to recruit a dynamic professional to fill the position of a Senior Technical Officer: Advocacy and Communications.
The Senior Technical Officer: Advocacy and Communications reports to the Executive Director and works closely and collaboratively with the ACPF technical team in the design and implementation of advocacy and communication strategies.
The candidate will be the principal officer responsible for the development and implementation of a vigorous advocacy strategy and programme to promote a more child-friendly Africa and greater accountability among African governments to promote child rights and child wellbeing.
He/She would also be responsible to translate the organisation’s work into effective advocacy messages for different audiences. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional familiar with development and human rights issues in Africa
How to Apply:The successful candidate should meet the following basic requirements:
Advanced degree in Journalism, Social Sciences, Law, or Media Studies
Proven record and experience, preferably with international NGOs - Work with the media would be an asset
Project Management Experience
Fluency in English; knowledge of the French language is an advantage
Ability to work in multicultural settings
