African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) is a leading, independent Pan-African centre of policy advocacy and dialogue on the African child.
It aims to provide a knowledge-based and advocacy-driven platform for dialogue; contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing children in Africa; identify policy options; strengthen the capacity of governments and CSOs to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes; and promote and strengthen an Africa-wide movement for children.
ACPF is seeking to recruit a senior executive for the position of Executive Director (ED) who will enhance ACPF’s role as the moral and authoritative voice for Africa’s children.
The ED will carry out vigorous advocacy at the international, Pan-African and national levels to ensure that Africa’s children are on the public and political agenda and that African governments are more child- friendly and more accountable to children.
He/she will ensure and strengthen ACPF’s resource and financial base. This is a high profile international position based at ACPF’s headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which involves interaction with heads of state and government, political figures, leading African, international and civil society executives, as well as thinkers and experts on child rights and wellbeing.
The candidate should have proven intellectual leadership, a minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in high-level advocacy, building strategic alliances and partnerships and resource mobilisation.
The candidate should possess a demonstrated capacity in leading, managing, motivating and developing a multi-disciplinary and a multi-cultural team.
The successful candidate should have an advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Statistics, Public and Business Administration, Public Health or other relevant disciplines.
