Description

To prepare Tax Returns, assist BU’s to complete accurate Tax packs to ensure correct tax treatment and to analyse Tax regulations in order to support the Tax department effectively.

Required Minimum Education/ Training

  • Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in Taxation / BCom with a major in Tax.

    Required Minimum Work Experience

  • 5 years experience in a financial environment of which at least 3 years must be in a Tax Environment.

    Key Performance Areas

  • Assist business units with the preparation of monthly tax packs where applicable.

  • Calculate Prior Year Adjustment for Income Tax and Deferred Tax where applicable.

  • Prepare the monthly reconciliation with SARS statement of account and follow up on reconciling items.

  • Prepare tax payments and complete quarterly and annual tax reports.

  • Maintain and update the company’s tax database and forecast tax predictions to the Group Tax Manager.

  • Prepare the reconciliations of accounting and Tax packs as well as between PBT and Tax Information on the various systems to ensure accurate disclosure.

  • Timeously resolve queries from business units to ensure on-time reporting.

  • Assist the Tax manager in the consolidation of monthly figures for Group reporting purposes.

  • Assist in the preparation of reconciliations between accounting packs and tax packs, and reconciliations between PBT and Tax information in COGNOS and Tax Packs per Onesource (SA) and International Tax Pack.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, internal and external auditors' requests for information/queries.

  • Ensure compliance with the group’s and companies’ internal policies and ensure that
    the Group complies with IFRS by rolling out an updated reporting pack on an annual basis to all business units.

  • Review income tax returns and verifications.

  • Prepare income tax returns of main subsidiaries in the Group and prepare and submit the provisional tax returns for the AFGRI Group.

  • Ensure accurate disclosure in compliance with IFRS requirements.

  • Ensure that tax packs are in the correct order with the correct opening balance from the previous year.

  • Ensure that the tax figure is accurate and report the tax figure in the table provided.

  • Ensure that recons are done within the allocated time frame and provide tax commentary to the Group Tax Manager.
