Perform NIR management and calibrations.

Required Minimum Education/ Training

  • BSc degree, preferably a master’s degree, in Biometrics, Statistics, Biochemistry/Chemistry related field.

  • NIR calibration training/experience will be an advantage.

    Required Minimum Work Experience

  • Laboratory and /or NIR experience will be an advantage.

  • Knowledge of the animal feed industry will also be an advantage.

    Key Performance Areas

  • Validate all calibrations for Perten, FOSS and Bruker (adjusting bias and slope).

  • Create new profiles and products and change product names and codes.

  • Export spectra and import wet chem results.

  • Assist with NIR troubleshooting (hardware and other issues).

  • Provide support to external NIR clients

  • Direct interaction with national and international NIR suppliers and experts.

  • Manage NIR-based projects.

  • Assist with setting up external calibrations and collaboration

  • Manage NIR software, set up, maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Ensure safe gathering and storing of data for calibration purposes.

  • Support the marketing of NIR products and promote new calibration products.

  • Advise on calibration performance, validations and NIR management.

  • Interact/visit current clients and potential clients to market NIR products.

  • Promote new calibration products.

  • Develop specific need calibration as per client specification.

  • Advise on calibration performance, validations and NIR management.

  • Prepare statistical analysis in JMP and provide statistical support for R&D projects

  • Compile, review and update SOPs, methods and
    work instructions.

  • Provide training on NIR-related documents and hardware.

  • Adhere to all safety standards in the laboratory.

  • Actively contribute to safety systems – part of fire team / first aider / other appointment.

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as and when required.
