Functional Unit: Programme

Reporting to: National Coordinator, Women’s Rights

Supervising: Partner level Project Officers

Duty Station: Nairobi (with 70% engagement in Garissa, Kilifi and Homabay)

Key relationships:

  • Internally: Project Accountant – Not This Girl, National Policy and Governance Officer, Partner Support Unit Team Leaders, Capacity Building Coordinators – Women’s Rights, Communications Manager
  • Externally: Programme Funding Manager (AAUK), Partners.


    Responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Not This Girl Project (UK Aid Match funded) in Garissa, Kilifi and Homabay.


    Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities


  • Lead in implementing the delivery of the three year Not This Girl (UK Aid Match funded project in the three counties in Kenya.
  • Develop project plans in line with the approved proposal and donor requirements and ensure project delivery according to project plan.
  • Organize project meetings (inception workshop, annual review meetings) with partners and relevant staff and stakeholders.
  • Work with PSU team to build the capacity of partners to implement and report on the project components.
  • Work with the Women’s Rights staff (Capacity Building Coordinators, National Coordinator), Project Accountant, Programme Funding Manger and other relevant staff to ensure effective project delivery and reporting.
  • Develop reports, newsletters and highlights on the project as stipulated in the organizations and donor reporting requirements
  • Develop and maintain an effective Not this Girl central data information file
  • Ensure high quality monitoring and evaluation of the project in line with ActionAid and DFIDs guidelines.
  • Organize donor monitoring visits, external evaluations and support external audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance to DFID contract requirements.
  • Contribute to other national level campaign work in relation to the mission priority.
  • Work with Communications Manager to document best practices and lessons for sharing widely and with partners to influence policy and practice


    General


  • As part of the programme team participate in program meetings and reviews in pursuing the implementation of the CSP
  • Ensure transparency and Accountability to community in the Partnership Support Units.

    Timely and accurate donor reports, accurate and

    reliable budgets and financial reports, timely completion of audits, timely implementation of audit recommendations, efficient management of projects cash flow, prompt responses to budget related queries, good partnership financial management.

  • The position requires a person with a fair mix of project management skills and campaign and policy engagement skills.


    Qualifications


  • A degree in Education or Social Sciences or a related field.
  • A minimum 3 years experience in leadership of development program implementation preferably in Education.
  • Demonstrated skills in education programming, including spearheading innovations in working with girls and programming for children/youth led campaigns.
  • Excellent skills in new media approaches and its creative application in development process including campaigning
  • Demonstrated capacity in innovations
  • Good knowledge of Programme Management and Development.
  • Rich experience preferably financial reporting for projects
  • Communication and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills
