Background of the TaskActionAid International Kenya (AAIK) has been implementing the EfL project in five Counties in Kenya and in consortium with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Kenya and Leonard Cheshire. AAIK would like to document learnings and best practices on the role of Parental and spousal engagement in enabling inclusive girls learning and transition.
The project- Education for Life (EfL) under the Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) funding window aimed at bringing about accelerated literacy and numeracy outcomes and life skills for the most marginalized Out of School Girls (OOSG) in underserved targeted counties of Isiolo, Garissa, Migori, Kisumu and Kilifi by transforming their educational and vocational attainment and lives.
Towards this end, AAIK is seeking the services of a qualified consultant with experience in developing knowledge products to support in the documentation in audio-visual, and text.
Task ObjectivesAAIK would like to produce audio-visual and written documentaries of best practices, successes, and learnings from the Education for Life project through the collection of voices of OOSG, their parents, spouses, community, and project staff in the five counties (listed above).
Call for Expression of InterestAAIK seeks to recruit a skilled and experienced consultant with skills in videography, photography, writing and editing for the above task, a great storyteller and with keen eye for detail to conduct the documentation.
The documentation will seek to:Demonstrate the successes of Education for Life Project
Pick learnings from the Project
Best practices on interventions related to parental and spousal support towards learning and transition of the girls.
Expected
Deliverables
Working with the National Project Manager, the Communication Officer and Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, the consultant is expected to produce the following deliverables to be used as an evidence base for national and global advocacy and future fundraising efforts.
The product will be delivered in both hard and soft copies.
A final reflection document from the project endline survey
A final blog from the National Project Manager and AAIK Executive Director
Comprehensive and captivating 20-minute video documentary on learnings and best practices from the project.
A collection of not less than 100 well captioned action/ active photos from all the five counties.
A manual on participatory identification and selection of out of school learners’ process
A write up on lessons on the need for learner involvement in the delivery of literacy and numeracy curriculum in informal community setting – Focusing on Gender and Social Inclusion
A policy paper on parental involvement and engagement with GEC girls in the support of a successful transition process – To be distributed online
Personnel Qualifications
The person or organization to be awarded the contract should meet the following criteria.
Master’s degree in communication and/or journalism
Minimum 5 years’ experience in communication in a Non-Governmental Organization
Minimum 5 years’ experience in journalism- print media production
Must be familiar with all broadcast and web video standards, both physical and electronic
At least 3 years of motion graphics and graphic text layout experience preferred
Firm understanding of the elements and principles of design (colour, balance/composition, contrast, scale).
Must be knowledgeable on safeguarding principles
Skill
Directing, design (motion, graphic), fine arts, editing, interviewing, storytelling, or other related fields.

Bid Documents and Timeframe
This is a high priority assignment and with the deliverables required by December 1, 2022.
