1. AAH-U Driver / Mechanic Job in Adjumani, Uganda
Action Africa Help Uganda (AAH-U), a non-profit making agency that implements health and development projects in Uganda, seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative development leaders for its United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) funded programmes in the Districts of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala for the above vacancy.
Reports to: Workshop Supervisor
Liaises with: Project staff
Job Summary: The focus for this position is to provide transport services to ensure programme activities run smoothly, vehicles are clean and in good order always. The position will be responsible for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesDeliver and collect goods, parcels and letters as required in the most cost efficient way.
Responsible for transporting staff and partners for official engagements.
Supervise and assist with loading and offloading of goods at the site upon arrival as well as when picking goods.
Maintain the vehicle log book indicating mileage, task accomplished, departure and arrival times, and fuel taken to enable proper monitoring of the vehicle movement as well as costs.
Ensure cleanliness and carry out routine maintenance checks daily and report any observed faults to the supervisor so that repairs can be arranged and servicing booked.
Ensure the vehicle insurance is valid and prompt for its renewal when renewal time is drawing close to ensure that the car is continually insured.
Diagnose problems, repair and perform general maintenance on all equipment and vehicles including adjustments of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and clutches on petrol and diesel equipment:
Tune up engines, ignition parts, clean and adjust carburettors, perform minor body repairs and respond to breakdowns.
Perform preventative maintenance and make inspections of vehicles for proper working order and safe operation.
Perform required inspections on allocated vehicles.
Maintain work records, time and material records on vehicle services.
And any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Experience
Mechanics Grade II
Certificate level 4 in motor vehicle/craft technician course
At least 4 years work in a busy motor vehicle workshop
Clean national driver’s license
Skills and Competencies
High level of integrity
Good report writing skills
Moderate computer skills with the ability to use word and excel spreadsheet
Contract Duration: 12 months (Renewable subject to availability of funds and positive appraisal)

2. AAH-U Electrician Job in Adjumani, Uganda
Reports to: Workshop Supervisor
Liaises with: Project Officers and IPs/other agencies in the area
To carry out general maintenance, servicing and Repairs of all generators and other electrical fittings and components in accordance with AAH Uganda and Donor guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out wiring and installations, servicing, repairing and maintenance of diesel and petrol driven generators ranging from 4KVA
to 400 KVA units or higher in accordance with manufacturer and machine service schedules.
Repair, maintain generators and electrical accessories. Overhaul and repairs of electrical accessories on engines and other mechanical component.
Write and collate all records of maintenance and repair carried out on each job task for easy verifications and reference in accordance with performance management and donor guidelines.
Prepare a list of items for preventive maintenance and electrical installation and submit to superior for follow up in accordance with agreed work plans and budgets.
Maintain proper use of tools, equipment and proper safe keeping and orderliness of the working area to avoid risk that may cause injury to himself as well as the others in accordance with good working practices and AAH health and safety guidelines.
Carry out motor rewinding of generators, alternators, household appliances and use of correct sizes/gauges/thickness of wires required for the task.
Perform maintenance of office/residence household appliances/equipment such as; heaters, air cooler, pumps, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, fans, air-conditioning and others.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time as requested by your supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Electrical engineering.
License from the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) to carry out domestic and industrial wiring (Trade Test)
At least 1- 3 years’ work experience in a comparable position
Computer literacy / data processing (Word, Excel, Access)
English read / written / Spoken
Understanding of schematic diagrams and lay out of all electrical aspects of generator installation,
Skills and Competencies
Ideally, a knowledge of spoken/written language widely used in the country
Sensitivity in handling and disposing of documents which may be important
Reliable and good organisational skills.
Ability to train subordinates and students in Electrical practices
Attention to detail
Reliable and good organisational skills
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
A good command of both written and spoken English
Patient, understanding and of a pleasant character
Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Office
Excellent Management skills
Able to capacity build and develop others
Ability to mobilize different audiences
Commitment to the organizational values
