AAH-I has over 30 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.
More recently AAH-I has expanded its activities to work with other marginalized communities, including pastoralists and people living in informal urban settlements.

Job Summary
To carry out routine electrical and related works (Diagnoses, tests, adjusts, and repairs automotive, truck and construction equipment, electrical and fuel supply parts, systems and accessories) including vehicle preparation and the fitting of electronics equipment to standard defined by the Motor-vehicle user manuals in accordance with AAH Uganda and Donor guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
To use electronic diagnostic equipment to diagnose electrical issues within a vehicle, interprets results before carrying out any maintenance.
Develop and execute a repair plan for any assessed issue on today’s increasingly electronic vehicle systems i.e. alarm systems, windows and locks, interior and exterior lighting and the internal CPU.
Carry out diagnostic tests on headlight alignment and intensity, short circuits, faulty bulb replacements etc. as of industry quality and safety standards to ensure headlights are in good working condition.
Cleans, tests, diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and overhauls and assembles various vehicle, motorcycle faulty components like air conditioning systems, carburetors, fuel pumps, and other fuel injection systems.
Trace open and short circuits; repairs and replaces defective ignition and lighting wires Tests coils, condensers, on-board computers, computer-controlled engine systems, emission control systems, gauges, instruments, electromechanical hydraulic systems, air-conditioning compressors and controls, heating systems, distributors, and other electrical parts. Replace lights including emergency lights; adjust headlights; repair and replace gas and oil gauges, ammeters, switches, and fuse blocks installs, repair and replace horns, sirens, and heaters; service storage batteries; use testing devices to inspect alignment, beam deflection, and intensity of headlights; may make emergency automotive electrical repairs in the field; uses small lathes, drill presses, bench grinders, engine analyzers, compression
and vacuum gauges, and other tools of the trade.
Write requisitions and draw materials and supplies from the stores and occasionally may be assigned to other duties for training purposes or to meet technological changes or emergencies.
Prepare a list of items for preventive maintenance and electrical installation and submit to superior for follow up in accordance with agreed work plans and budgets.
Maintain proper use of tools, equipment and proper safe keeping and orderliness of the working area to avoid risk that may cause injury to himself as well as the others in accordance with good working practices and AAH health and safety guidelines.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time as requested by your supervisor.
Qualifications Skills and Competencies
At least Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
Valid national driving License for road testing vehicles.
At least 2- 3 years’ work experience in a comparable position
Computer literacy / data processing (Word, Excel, Access)
Fluent in English (both written and spoken).Sensitivity in handling and disposing of documents which may be important
Reliable and good organisational skills.
Ability to train subordinates and students in Electrical practices.
