Job Title Director of Music and Youth Ministry

Direct Reporting to Vicar

Indirect Reporting Chairpersons of Worship and Youth Committees

1. Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating all aspects of music ministry in the church to support contemporary
worship and all aspects of youth ministry including regular worship, outreach, evangelism,
discipleship, youth events and special youth projects as directed by the Vicar and respective
committees.

2. Key Responsibilities

Work with the Vicar, PCC, ministerial staff and other relevant committees in planning,
evaluation and coordination of music and youth ministries.

Provide regular information to the congregations on music and youth programmes and
activities.

Work with the Church leadership to ensure availability of adequate resources for music and
youth ministries.

Recruit, train and manage pool of volunteers in the music and youth ministries including
sound board and technical volunteers.

Keep the youth and the entire Church abreast with trends and development that are likely to
impact the music ministry, youth ministry, and/or the youth.

Build the Praise Band membership to reflect a well-round team of vocalist and musicians.

Work with the Vicar and other ministers in selecting music for regular and special worship
services.

Monitor purchase, maintenance and replacement of all music-related equipment, supplies
and instruments.

Keep information of contemporary music methods and materials.

Coordinate Sunday service programmes for the youth and other periodic gatherings of the
youth such as Bible studies, retreats, prayer days, and departmental meetings.

Carry out activities that enable recruitment of new youth to the Church to meet quarterly
goals for youth membership.

Facilitate development of youth friendly materials, aids and approaches that make principles
from the Bible relevant to their lives and enhance ministry to the youth within the Church as
well as outreach initiatives.

Effectively use social media and other means

to communicate with youth and to promote
youth and church activities.

Facilitate hospitality and visitation ministry to the youth and their parents and families, and
attend to general and miscellaneous issues relating to youth that come up from time to
time.

Cultivate relationships with local school officials and manage programmed visits to the
schools.

Maintain good relations, networking and collaboration with other like-minded churches and
Christian organisations on youth ministry.

Carry out any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the
Vicar or Chairpersons of the respective Ministry Committees.

3. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
(The knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal
schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training)

(a) Level of Education:

Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent

(b) Specialised Training/Professional
Qualifications:

Equivalent training in the area of ministry

(c) Other Competencies:

Strong leadership, interpersonal and inter-cultural skills.

Experience in counselling youth and /or parents

Good command in communication.

High personal standards.

Able to work with minimal supervision.

Strong interest to work with the youth.

Able to play piano well

Be a self-Starter with a desire to see people come to Christ

An active member of the church including participating in church events.

(d) Job Experience:

Three years’ experience leading youth activities with two years’ experience leading a
praise and worship team.
