IntroductionAbt Associates, a major American business and government research, technical assistance, and consulting company, manages the USAID-funded Vector Control Task Order 1. Task Order 1 will support the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and USAID to plan and implement an integrated vector control approach with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria. Abt has implemented indoor residual spraying (IRS) for PMI since 2011, delivering high-quality IRS programs and gathering the most comprehensive vector control entomological data in the world. Under this contract, Abt will expand entomological monitoring to guide programs focused on insecticide-treated mosquito nets and IRS and continue to assist PMI in reducing the burden of malaria through IRS and capacity building in 22 African countries where malaria is endemic. Abt also will continue to support PMI in IRS monitoring and evaluation, as well as environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
Perform general clerical duties, to include but not be limited to photocopying, scanning, faxing, filing, and mailing.
Provide office administrative support including organization and facilitation for internal meetings, drafting agendas, and taking minutes;
Maintain hard copy and electronic versions of a project archive, including contract and subcontract documents, client approvals, consultant documents, travel files, procurement files, project deliverables, project reports , and minutes of meetings.
Manage and document correspondences between project offices, the home office, the client, other partners, and stakeholders.
Answer incoming telephone calls, take complete and accurate messages for people who are not available, and ensure they receive the messages.
Greet, advise, and escort guests.
Purchase, store and distribute office supplies.
Ensure timely settlement of office bills.
Make logistical arrangements for project staff traveling outside their region or for international visitors.
Prepare and send pouches to District Region(s) as needed.
Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree or two (2) years prior experience in office administration required.
Knowledge and experience with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other data processing and graphical presentation software.
Ability to assess problems and develop solutions.
Excellent inter-personal communication skills and excellent organization skills.
Preference for candidates who have experience that relates to USAID-funded projects or other international development experience.
Fluency in English.

Abt Associates International Health Project Assistant / Administrative Support Specialist Jobs in Uganda
Responsibilities
Work on all technical reports as required by the project.
Work with the field teams, the M&E Manager and the Technical Heads to compile the required information needed for all reports and help prepare complete drafts for review by senior management and home office
Format reports to ensure that they follow the required templates and correct branding
Collect information from the field and work with the IEC/BCC Specialist to draft success stories
Assist with power point presentations needed for Project meetings, conferences etc.
Support the field team, the IEC/BCC Specialist on poster presentations, abstracts that need to be submitted for national and international conferences
Work with the field team and home office on drafting training manuals and pocket guides and securing required quotes for printing as needed
Work with CDFU and the IEC/BCC Specialist on developing IEC/SBCC materials for the project.
Help make arrangements for project activities, including trainings, visits by clients and STTA in country.
Perform financial duties including
but not limited to payroll, checking invoices and collecting expense reports

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree inSocial Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Business Administration, Management, Employee Development, or another related field.
A minimum of 8 years of work experience in the area of HR management and office administration.
Experience working on USAID-funded programs or large organizations is preferred
Excellent knowledge and experience with Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other data processing and graphical presentation software.
Advanced written/oral English language skills.
Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience with employee relations.
Ability to multi-task and self-manage.
Ability to relate to people of various ethnic, cultural and geographic persuasions.
Strong business acumen and judgment.

Abt Associates International Health Technical Specialist / Entomology Technical Manager Jobs in Uganda
Responsibilities
Leads the development of national entomological monitoring plan in collaboration with National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), in country malaria vector control partners, research institutes, Universities and private sectors involved in malaria vector control.
Prepare project comprehensive annual entomological monitoring plan.
Reviews the content of communications materials for technical accuracy.
Involve in vector control operational research activities.
Publish results from regular entomological monitoring and operational research actvtreoisn on pre-reviewed journal.
Prepare and present abstracts in international vector control and scientific conferences.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (minimum), or a Masters Degree (desirable), in Entomology, Public Health, Environmental Health, or other relevant field.
Relevant professional work experience with significant amounts of experience directly in Vector Control and IRS Operations.
Experience in regulatory and operational aspects of insecticide use and management
Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of direction and supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and as a team leader, with the ability to accept the inputs of other team members.
Strong management and planning skills of project tasks and budgets.
Demonstrates leadership and team work and produces high quality work in a timely, cost effective manner and has excellent writing skills.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal communication and computer skills.
Experience with USAID and donor projects is highly desirable.
(8+) years of experience and a master degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
