Job DescriptionBasic FunctionsPerforms and coordinates shift Production work fully. Assists the Production managers in the performance of shift operation. Skilled in production aspects of the plant operations. Implementing the short and long term business plans.
Driving the shift Production, work with Production and Maintenance manager and other shift leaders to ensure smooth operation. Optimizing the shift performance, as a unit and as part of with company policy. Coordinating the line supervisors for organizing, planning and prioritizing skills to achieve the target.
Major/core Activities of the Job Taking full responsibility of the shift in terms of management of staff, management of Productionnd to ensure the smooth running of the Production processes
Supervising shift operation; organizing and monitoring work flow.
Accomplishing the line works results by communicating job expectations.
Planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Training, counseling, and disciplining employees.
Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process.
Setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment.
Monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions
Developing, implementing and reporting procedures and systems.
Facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
Initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
Completes Production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel
Accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems;
Reporting results of the processing flow on shift Production summaries.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing Production records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Coordinating with line supervisors determine the staff activity levels.
Directing employees through their daily routines.
Ensuring the
shift is not overstaffed.
Providing leadership to a team during a shift.
Recommending capable staff members for promotion and advancement.
Motivating staff to deliver better results.
Monitoring staff performance during a shift and addressing any shortcomings.
Mentoring and training up new employees.
Making sure that all staff are properly dressed and enforcing grooming and appearance standards.
Ensuring the correct staffing levels for each shift.
Managing the opening and closing of the work premises.
Monitoring finished product transfer orders to be shipped out.
Ensuring that quality audits are completed to a high standard.
Being involved in and contributing to team meetings.
Making sure that all staff have the basic skills training needed to perform their jobs.
Executing the Production process, and drive the team to achieve the target.
Coordinating with store team for material availability on time.
Coordinating with maintenance team for machine availability
Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
Reviewing worker performance and report to immediate supervisor on time.
Cross training worker teams for maximum Production flexibility.
Problem solving and troubling shooting skills are used to ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the problems in hand
To work closely with other Shift Leaders to ensure Production handovers are effective communications tools
Job Requirements
Required Competencies
Experience of managing a team in a Production environment
‘Hands on’ engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven record of identifying innovative solutions
Quantifiable evidence of reducing Production costs
Experience of building strong working relationships with all stakeholders both internally and externally
Working knowledge of management principles including finance, health & safety, quality assurance, human resources etc
Evidence of continuous professional and personal development
Ability to handle responsibility and the pressure of meeting deadlines
Both Communication and Report writing skill
Qualification:
BSc Degree in Food Science, Applied Chemistry, Applied Biology, or related fields of studie.
Work Experience:
4 years of experience in production process preferably in Food and/or Beverage Industry out of which 2 years in senior operator/supervisory position
