Job DescriptionMajor/core Activities of the Job Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; confirming case status.
Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; generating status reports.
Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences; preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses; organizing materials for team case review.
Enhances trial proceedings by organizing evidence; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes.
Prepares and renders opinions, legal advice or comments on legal issues/queries concerning the operations of any of the Company offices & departments;
Prepares and/or reviews contracts/agreements, other legal documents
Conducts research and analysis of the pertinent laws, legal doctrines, principles and precedents applicable thereto;
Assisting the operational departments in preparing of reply to legal notices received.
Review all customer, employee and client complaints and suits to identify trends that may indicate potential legal risks that need attention.
Keep management abreast of all new laws and regulations that may have implication to the Company
Recommends legal actions and gives advice to the Company and its employees on matters of law concerning office operations to ensure that company activities are in strict compliance with
new and existing legislations;
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Performs other duties as may be deemed necessary
Job Requirements
Required Competencies
Reporting Skills, Research Skills, Legal Administration Skills, Litigation, Client Relationships,
Excellent oral and written communications skills in the English language
Spelling, proofreading skills and attention to detail
Experience with Microsoft Office packages
Professional manner, integrity and a willingness to accept responsibility and to produce quality work output within quick turnaround times
Energetic, eager and positive work outlook with an ability to manage multiple tasks to achieve results
Confidentiality, Dependability, Client Confidentiality
Desire to work as part of a small, informal legal team to achieve success
Previous experience in a similar role in a corporate /commercial / labour law environment is preferable
Speaking Afan Oromo is more preferable
Qualification
Law graduate (LLB) ,at least two years’ work experience on similar responsibilities
