Job SummaryThe study manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator to provide leadership and management for the PSBI project and will be responsible for organization and day-to-day management of the project activities.
This position will also have role in representation of the PSBI team in Ethiopia with government counterparts and development partners.
The position will be given significant responsibility for the development and execution of the implementation plan, including monitoring key deliverables and project achievements, as well as collaborating to design and carry out project activities.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities include
Manage the routine day-to-day operation logistics and administration aspects of the study project;
Plan, implement and administer training evaluations;
Plan, coordinate meetings, take notes, and routinely communicate investigators and hospital-based study teams;
Recruit, train, deploy, and supervise central and study site research staff
Working closely with the study PIs and investigators adapt standard operating procedure and protocols for the interventions to local context and develop instruments and protocols for data collection;
Develop program and financial reports and submit to the donor and government counterparts;
Oversee budgets, supplies, software and equipment, and directly supervise the field staff
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree in public health required with at least three years of progressively responsible management experience, research project
management is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in managing staff, budgets, and implementation of research projects.
Familiarity with the Ethiopian health system, Ethiopian Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus preferred.
Written and verbal fluency in English required.
Strong writing skills and exceptional oral and written communication skills required.
Additional Qualifications
Must have the ability to represent the Project with external constituents, including the donor, international organizations, peer institutions, and Ethiopian government bodies.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, supervisory, and organizational skills necessary. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple project activities, balance conflicting priorities, and handle confidential information appropriately. Must exhibit tact and diplomacy in inter-cultural settings.
Substantial experience in applied research or academic administration preferred.
