Job SummaryThe Data Manager will work closely with the Study Manager to manage the monitoring and evaluation data from the PSBI trials.
Data Manager will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the three teams working under her/him
the screening and enrollment,
treatment compliance monitoring,
outcome assessment teams to ensure the generation and management of the data from the trials maintains high quality standards.
The position will be given significant responsibility for the development and implementation of data collection tools, data quality assurance mechanisms and rapid and rigorous data analysis methods.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities include
Oversee and supervise screening and enrollment, treatment compliance monitoring and outcome assessment data to ensure the project data is of high quality.
Routinely review the data from the three teams (screening and enrollment, treatment compliance documentation, and outcome assessment teams),
Manage any technical issues with data collection, storage, management and analysis
Conduct rapid and rigorous data analysis including trend analysis and share with study investigators, study manager and hospital-based study teams
Closely work with the study data management partner and WHO team to ensure data generation, storage, management, and analysis runs smoothly
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related field with at least three years of experience or bachelor degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related field with six years of experience with progressive responsibility in large-scale research data management
Demonstrated experience
managing staff and planning and implementation data management activities.
Familiarity with the Ethiopian health system, Ethiopian Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus preferred.
Demonstrated experience in supervision of data collection, evaluation of programs/interventions, and data quality.
Knowledge of statistical methods and software packages frequently used in public health research
Written and verbal fluency in English required. Written and spoken fluency in Afan Oromo and Amharic languages is desired. Strong writing skills and exceptional oral and written communication skills required.
Additional Qualifications
Excellent problem-solving, communication, supervisory, and organizational skills necessary.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple project activities, balance conflicting priorities, and handle confidential information appropriately.
Must exhibit tact and diplomacy in inter-cultural settings.
Prior field research and academic experience related to maternal and newborn health in Ethiopia is desirable.
Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and careful attention to detail.
Prior experience working with electronic data collection and online databases, and demonstrated experience managing databases.
