Visiting International Fellows are established scholars who have a track record in contributing to debates about social justice and are active in criminology, history, law, politics or sociology.
They welcome research interest and expertise in the following fields:
An honorarium of 3,000 pounds sterling will be paid to applicants who stay at GCU for up to one semester (circa 3 months). One Fellowship with Honorarium will be awarded in any one calendar year.
Fellows may be appointed for a shorter period for up to one month but this will not attract an honorarium. Successful applicants pay their own travel, accommodation and subsistence costs during their stay.
Applicants will be established academics and will normally be on paid sabbatical leave from their employer.
LSS welcomes applications from experts who are interested in collaborative research with members of the School.
Applications from persons from underrepresented and disadvantaged sections of society are particularly encouraged.
Successful applicants will have full access to university facilities and will be provided with appropriate space to conduct scholarly work.
However, they may need to secure work permits and LSS would expect acknowledgement of its support for any publications produced as a result of time spent at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Please send a CV plus a letter of application outlining your area of interest/expertise and research plan for the duration of the visit. Email submission is preferred.
Applications for Visiting International Fellowships for up to one month that do not attract an honorarium may be made at any point during the year.
Application Deadline: Applications for the honorarium for any given calendar year must be submitted by the end of January of the year in which the applicant expects the visit to take place (e.g. 31st January).
Send applications to Michelle Connolly, School Research Coordinator, School of Law and Social Sciences, Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow, G4 OBA, Scotland, UK. T: +44 (0) 141 331 3276. E: michelle.connolly [at] gcal.ac.uk
