USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program

Team Building Facilitator

The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia.

The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials.

TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.

The TIS program is currently seeking individuals or firms to provide skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Team Building Facilitation for the TIS team building session to be held in Hargeisa, Somaliland from November 4 – 8, 2013.

Qualifications and skills sought:

  • Three to five years of previous experience in facilitation roles, particularly for team building exercises.
  • Experience in design and facilitation of team building activities.
  • Previous experience working in Somalia highly sought.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and an ability to manage diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • English fluency required.
  • Somali language fluency desirable.
  • Interest and availability to travel to Somali land.

    Grants Manager

    The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia.

    The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials.

    TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.

    The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Grants Manager to join our Nairobi based grants team.

    Qualifications and skills sought:

  • University degree in either Accounting, Commerce, Financial Management, Political Science, International Relations, International Development or appropriate field.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of finance or grants management are required.
  • Three to five years of Experience working with USAID or an international donor is preferred.
  • Experience in program development, reporting; budgeting; networking highly sought. Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience working in Somalia highly sought.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
  • Demonstrated expertise working in Somalia on socio-political and culture issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to manage a diverse range of professional relationships essential.
  • English fluency required and Somali language highly prefered.

    Interest and availability to travel throughout Somalia.

    The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials. TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals.

    The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Field Coordinator.

    As our Field Coordinator, you will work closely with USAID, DAI’s program team (particularly the Chief of Party, Senior Grants Manager, and Project Advisors), Somali government officials, and community leaders to identify program activities that support the above noted program objectives.

    The work of the Field Coordinator (FC) requires detailed knowledge of Somali social-political context, highly developed collaboration and networking skills and the exercise of discretion, judgment, and personal responsibility.

    Qualifications and skills sought:

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development or appropriate field preferred.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience are required.
  • Three to five years of experience working with USAID or an international donor is preferred.
  • Experience in program development; monitoring and evaluation; reporting; budgeting; highly sought.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience working in Somalia particularly South Central Somalia required.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
  • Demonstrated expertise working in Somalia on socio-political and cultural issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to manage a diverse range of professional relationships essential.
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills.
  • English and Somali language fluency required.
