Grants within the regional programs are generally directed to organizations based within those regions.
Where appropriate, grants are directed to internationally based organizations working in support of the efforts of people and institutions on the ground.
The Fund awards grants on a rolling cycle, but because of a high volume of applications grants are planned well in advance.
Grant size is typically in the range of $50,000 to $100,000 over one or two years and TCF focus on the African Rift Valley (especially Southwest Ethiopia and also Northern Kenya).
Grant seeking organizations need to be not-for-profit organization, government unit, university or museum.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their inquiries or pre-proposals by deadline dates.
The deadline dates are;
August 31 - For consideration for the following calendar year. This deadline is in advance of October board meeting when generally GRANT projections for the following year are reviewed.
March 31 – For consideration within the remaining current calendar year - funds permitting. This deadline is in advance of May board meeting when GRANT projections are revised and reviewed for the remaining of the year.
