Research Uptake Manager
The Population Council is seeking a creative and dynamic individual to support the uptake of research findings generated by two ongoing projects: STEP UP (Strengthening Evidence for Programming on Unintended Pregnancy), and a regional network of researchers and program implementers dedicated to improving the evidence-base on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) programming in sub-Saharan Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall implementation of the research uptake strategies for STEP UP and the Africa Regional SGBV Network.
Coordinate implementation of the Research Uptake strategies for STEP UP and the Africa Regional SGBV Network, including communication and dissemination.
Work closely with STEP UP partners to develop and maintain a system for routine monitoring of changes in policy and practices for FP and safe abortion across STEP UP priority countries.
Maintain a database of all reports, materials, journal articles published and other products generated through STEP UP and the Africa Regional SGBV Network.
Monitor and document the impact of project activities on decision making for programming and policy, including case studies of success stories and preparing project news.
Manage the design and production of communication materials by all partners in the two projects.
Review and revise content for each project website and incorporate new evidence generated.
Provide support to staff and partners in the production of study-specific reports, synthesis briefs, and manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals.
Coordinate and support preparation of yearly network/partner meetings, as well as abstract submissions, posters and presentations for conferences.
Prepare draft annual donor reports.
In collaboration with project directors, design and implement a system for monitoring and evaluating STEP UP’s research uptake strategy.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in a communications-related topic.
Strong experience in coordinating partnerships and networks with a range of national and international NGOs.
Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills in English essential, including ability to translate, summarize and communicate research findings (quantitative and qualitative) into non-technical language for decision-makers and the general public.
Working knowledge of French preferred
Expertise in management of website content essential; experience with website design is an advantage. Willingness to travel up to 30% time.
