The award is named after Jonathan Mann, who dedicated his life to eliminate global poverty and social injustice and also worked as the director of the Special Program on AIDS from 1986 to 1990 at the World Health Organization (WHO).
He was also one of the pioneers to advocate for recognizing health as one of the basic human rights of an individual and he also helped fight the fear surrounding the AIDS epidemic.
The award will be bestowed to individuals with the following criteria:
The winner will be announced and honored in Washington, D.C. at a special Awards Ceremony during the Global Health Council’s 37th Annual International Conference, June 14-18.
