IDI-Berlin provides a multidisciplinary approach to study the interaction of pathogens with their hosts.
It is a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, the Humboldt University Berlin, the Charité, the Free University Berlin and other research institutes.
This collaboration offers outstanding scientific training leading to the award of the degree of PhD (Dr. rer. nat.).
The PhD program encourages independent research by students in a variety of different fields such as molecular, cellular, and organismal biology along with genetics, immunology and biochemistry.
Students will investigate the biodiversity of infections including viruses, bacteria, protozoa and parasites.
The strength of the program is access to a diversity of well equipped laboratories and a wide array of state-of-the-art techniques.
