Humane Studies Fellowships: Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded by the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) students interested in exploring the principles, practices, and institutions necessary for a free society through their academic work.

Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded by the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) began the program in 1983 as the Claude R. Lambe Fellowships and has awarded more than 165 fellowships ranging from $2,000 to $15,000.

Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded by the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) considers applications from those who will be full-time graduate students, including law and journalism students, or undergraduate juniors or seniors during the academic year and who have a clearly demonstrated research interest in the intellectual and institutional foundations of a free society.

Fellowships Application Eligibility Crieria:

  • Undergraduates who will be juniors or seniors during the academic year of funding
  • Graduate students in any field and at any stage before completion of the Ph.D.
  • Law students, MBA students, or other professional students
  • The fellowships can be used to study in the United States or abroad.
  • Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply.
  • In order to receive a Humane Studies Fellowship, winners must be enrolled as full-time students at an accredited degree-granting institution.
  • Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded for one year; students are eligible to reapply in subsequent years.

    Humane Studies Fellowships are awarded by the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) makes fellowship awards of up to $15,000.

    Amounts awarded take into account the cost of tuition at the recipient's institution and any other funds received.
