Child Family Health International Scholarships

Child Family Health International (CFHI) is offering half and full scholarships.

Scholarships are to be used toward the program fees for a CFHI programs.

Scholarships to these programs are available during the following months only: September, October, November and December of February, March, April, May.

Scholarships will be given to students who demonstrate a commitment to their communities as well as financial need and an interest in exchanging ideas and sharing experiences with people in Bolivia, Ecuador, India, Mexico and South Africa.

Recipients of Child Family Health International (CFHI) scholarships will be required to pay their own airfare, and any personal expenses.

Recipients must keep a clinical and cultural immersion journal to be submitted at the end of the program.

They must take photographs while abroad, that may be used on the CFHI website, and in Child Family Health International (CFHI) publications.

Recipients may also be required to write an article about their experience for Child Family Health International (CFHI) newsletters or other puelications.

They must also be willing to report their perspective on diversity in the host country with particular focus in medical and social contexts.

Child Family Health International (CFHI) will ask recipients to act as campus representatives for prospective CFHI participants, and may be asked to attend study abroad fairs in their local area.

Eligibility Criteria for Child Family Health International Scholarships Applicants:

All CFHI participants must be 21 or over at the time of participation.

Scholarship recipients must have demonstrated financial need and may be any of the following:

  • Medical Resident
  • Medical Student 1-2
  • Medical Student 3-4
  • Senior level Pre-Medical Student
  • Nursing Student
  • MPH Student
  • Physicians Assistants Student
  • Taking time off between undergraduate and graduate studies

    Selection Criteria:

    Community involvement

  • Individuals must have some experience volunteering and/or working to strengthen their community
  • Sense of Purpose
  • Individuals must articulate how connecting with communities overseas at this time in their lives will impact their future work

    Character

  • Individuals invested in their communities and education with an interest in exchanging ideas and sharing experiences with people from other parts of the world
  • Individuals who are independent and resourceful
  • Individuals who are open-minded and have a passion for learning and service

    Financial need

  • Individual’s incomes, parents’ incomes, number of members in family, loans, expenses, scholarships generally compared
  • Special circumstances will be taken into consideration such as extraneous financial or medical needs and extra responsibilities in work and family

    Deadlines:

  • Fall 08 (Sept - Dec): Deadline of June 15, Recipients will be notified by July 15,
  • Spring 09 (Feb - May): Deadline of November 15, Recipients will be notified by December 15,
