Taita Taveta University College (TTUC) is a constituent college of JKUAT located at Voi.
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is a full-fledged Public University, with its Main Campus located in Kakamega.
Curtin University is an Australian Public University based in Bentley, Perth, Western Australia.
Following a successful bid for funding of Post Graduate training in engineering programs by African Development Bank (ADB), through the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, JKUAT, TTUC and MMUST in Collaboration with Curtin University, have been mandated to train staff in Public Universities, Public Technical Training Institutions, Government Ministries and State Corporations for capacity building.
The consortium would therefore like to invite applications for African Development Bank Scholarships from suitably qualified applicants in Public Universities and Public Technical Training Institutions, and Public Sector for the Masters and PhD programs shown below.
The applicants’ upper age limit is 45 years.
The African Development Bank Scholarships will cover Tuition and Research fees only and does not cover subsistence or upkeep allowances.
MSc in Coal Technology / Mining
Program Goals
This programme aims at developing capacity for training, research and practice in mining industry.
This programme will offer training in all aspects of mining technology including exploration, excavation, extraction and processing.
The areas will cover mining economics, geological geotechnical engineering, geology, mining and earth systems, mines and shaft designs, and environmental and safety aspects.
A strong emphasis is placed on research and practical problem solving in areas of mining engineering that have immediate impact on Kenyan mining industry problems.
Entry Requirements
A holder of a Bachelor of Science OR Engineering degree with at least second class honours, Upper Division, or equivalent qualifications recognized by the University Senate, in Mining engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Geology or Earth Sciences or other related fields.
Duration: 2 years
PhD in Mining Engineering
Program Goals
The programme aims at producing experts in Mining Engineering, who can take lead in Research and Development for the mining and mineral processing industry.
This programme will offer advanced training and research for all aspects of mining engineering.
Entry Requirements
A holder of a Master of Science in Engineering specializing in any of the following fields: Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Geology or Earth Sciences and Geotechnical Engineering.
Duration: 3 years
