Serving Africans around the world. September 2006, ISSUE #004. Dear,
Welcome to this week’s issue. As always, I request that you share this newsletter with as many people as possible.
If you an undergraduate student, you can apply for Huygens Scholarships Programme and complete your studies in the Netherlands (any subject). Rarely do you get such a generous scholarship programme offering a monthly allowance of €900 and enabling you to transfer and complete your studies elsewhere. I hope many African undergraduate students take advantage of this opportunity. The same programme is available for master’s studies. See below for details. For those studying in the UK, remember Emergency Small Grants Programme provides emergency small grants to students who have come from Africa to study in the UK but run into unexpected financial difficulties in their last few months of study, click here for details. Newby Trust Awards makes similar grants, click here for details. It is important to study these opportunities which are open for all students and make an application. I once casually applied for such grants while studying at University of Aberdeen. An investment of several hours on the Internet over several days yielded about £3000 in emergency grants. I was informed that funds ended up going back to the trusts I applied to - simply because not enough applications were received. If you are at the University of Aberdeen, email me and I will send you details of who to see for grants available in that University.
