The Directorate of Human Resources, Makerere University seeks to recruit persons of high integrity and professionalism to fill three full-time positions under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

Position: Academic & Career Support Officer

Immediate Supervisor: Program Manager

Tenure of Appointment: 2 Years Contract .

Job Description

  • Coordinate with the Support services and Welfare Officer to Organise orientation program for new Scholars & General Assemblies
  • Coordinate with College-based Co-ordinators on academic internship, Research and field attachment/field trips for the MCF Scholars
  • Oversee the Mentorship Programme
  • Co-ordinate the Skills Development Programmes and the selection of Scholars leadership and career development opportunities
  • Ensure timely & appropriate procurement of the required goods and services
  • Produce activity and quarterly reports
  • Any other duties assigned by the Program Manager

    Essential Academic Qualifications and Experience Education:

  • A Masters University Degree (by research) from a recognized University and a Bachelor Honors degree in Education, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Human Resource Management, Psychology,
    Counselling and Guidance or any similar field. An advanced certificate Diploma in Counselling and Guidance.

    Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a related field including Skills Development, Mentorship or Career Guidance
  • Experience in designing, implementing and managing i academic scholarship/Mentorship programmes Working experience with at least one Youth Programme

    Competencies:

  • A good understanding of policies and regulations of a University with specific regards to academics
  • Ability to engage with the Youth and Excellent Customer care service skills
  • Ability to work in a team and with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and deliver within tight timelines
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of work-related information and data
  • Relevant Computer Skills vii. Excellent Written and Verbal Communications
  • Self-Motivation, Result-oriented and Team Player
  • Languages: Excellent written and spoken command of English
